What is included in CCSA's Program Fee?

(Note that there may be some variations between programs.)

  • A three- or four-credit hour course
  • Cultural and class-related activities
  • Housing in double rooms or shared student accommodations
  • One meal daily, usually breakfast
  • Pre-departure advising and orientation
  • On-site orientation and administration by CCSA Program Directors
  • 24/7 emergency contact on-site and U.S.-based support
  • International health and travel delay insurance
  • At least one day trip outside of the program base
  • For programs with dual country locations: one-way flights between thw two sites (eg: London & Dublin, London & Edinburgh)
  • Partial payment of on-site public transportation costs, where applicable

Accommodations
Enjoy comfortable accommodations during your stay in Australia. In Cairns, you’ll be ideally located near the Esplanade, providing easy access to stunning waterfront views, vibrant markets, and local attractions. In Melbourne, your central location places you within walking distance of the city’s iconic landmarks, cultural sites, and lively neighborhoods.
Accommodations primarily feature double occupancy, with occasional triple rooms available. Single accommodations can be arranged at an additional cost. These convenient locations and options will enhance your experience as you explore all that these dynamic cities have to offer!

Kimberly Nessler Kimberly Nessler is a coordinator in the English Department at Western Kentucky University. As an undergraduate, she participated in the CCSA Winter 99-00 Australia program. She first served as an assistant director for the London Summer 2022 CCSA program and has since been an assistant director for the London-Dublin winter programs.

Group Travel Required

Travel together with faculty, staff and other participants from your CCSA program with our group travel. CCSA will purchase a airline ticket from select U.S. cities on your behalf. The airline cost will be included in your final bill from CCSA. In addition to the flight, you will also receive transport to/from the accommodation in the destination city and the airport.

You can check our currently available departure cities on our departures page CCSA highly recommends this option for those new to international travel.

Includes:
  • roundtrip air transportation from one of CCSA's designated U.S. departure cities.
  • roundtrip ground transportation between airport and the accommodation site.
  • CCSA faculty and staff to guide you through the immigration and customs process.

Visas

All foreign travelers, except New Zealand citizens, must obtain a visa or travel authority before traveling to Australia.

US citizens qualify for the Subclass 601 Electronic Travel Authority Visa. There is no Visa Application Charge (VAC) but an application service fee of AUD20 must be paid when you complete your application through the Australian ETA app. You can find more information here: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/electronic-travel-authority-601#About.

Further information and instructions are provided once your application is approved and discussed during your pre-departure orientation.

Public Health

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people: A Cross-cultural Examination of Health and Well-being

Discover Australia through a fresh lens as we dive into the rich cultures and unique perspectives on health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This course offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for American students to compare their own beliefs with those of Australia’s First Nations peoples. You’ll journey through vibrant urban centers like Melbourne and immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes of regional Queensland.
Through hands-on experiences—visiting museums, exploring cultural centers, and directly engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people—you’ll gain invaluable insights into the diverse traditions that shape Australia’s health and wellness practices. This immersive learning experience promises to broaden your worldview and challenge how you think about culture, health, and community.

Prerequisite: Be enrolled in a health science degree (e.g., allied health, psychology, nursing, pre-medicine, public health) and have completed 48 college credit hours or with the consent of the instructor.
