REGISTRATION/TUITION & FEESWinter 2011/12- All courses offered by CCSA require an academic commitment from students. Each student will be expected to complete assignments on time and to attend all class-related events. Some of the courses will require projects and/or research papers to be completed after the student returns from the program. Courses are listed as LD (lower division), UD (upper division) and G (graduate). A minimum of 12 students is required for a class to be included in a CCSA program. Should recruitment fall below 12 as of the application deadline, the course may be cancelled. In the event a student’s course is cancelled, the student’s enrollment will be changed to his/her alternate course (as indicated on the original application) if space is available in the specified course. If no alternate has been selected, the CCSA central office will contact the student, at which time he/she may either choose another alternate course or withdraw from the program and receive a full refund of payments made to CCSA. Students from CCSA member institutions must register for courses through their home institution. The CCSA member institutions, whenever possible, identify comparable courses at each institution for those taught by faculty from other member universities. Only in the event that the requested course is not available at the student’s home institution may a student from one member institution be permitted to register through another CCSA institution. Students should contact their institution’s CCSA representative or the CCSA central office at Belmont University for details about registration procedures. All cancellations must be made in writing to the CCSA Central Office at Belmont University in order for refunds to be processed. Note: the foregoing standards also apply to applicants whose participation is involuntarily canceled by CCSA due to the applicant’s failure to remain in good standing. TRIP CANCELLATION INSURANCEApplicants are strongly encouraged to consider purchasing trip cancellation insurance. This insurance is available through most travel agencies or by doing a web search for trip cancellation insurance. A few suggestions are: (CCSA does not endorse these agencies). CONTACT INFORMATIONBecause a substantial amount of communication from the CCSA central office is sent via email, it is imperative that you provide an active working email address. Please immediately notify the CCSA central office of any changes to your email, mailing address or phone numbers. HEALTHINSURANCEAs part of the program price, participants are provided limited health insurance for the duration of their study abroad program. Coverage for situations occurring during the policy period includes sickness, injury, emergency medical evacuation, emergency reunion, accidental death and dismemberment, and repatriation of remains. Details of coverage will be sent to participants upon receipt of the CCSA program application. CCSA strongly urges all individuals to receive a physical examination prior to participation in a study abroad program. A physical examination is required of all participants in the Internship and the Semester in England programs. Prescriptions for any medications taken regularly should be filled before leaving the U.S. H1N1CCSA is monitoring the incidence of H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) in the U.S. and abroad. CCSA is paying close attention to reports issued by public health officials at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). For general information, vaccination information, public health guidance, and recommendations for how to stay healthy during 2009 H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) outbreak, you can go to http://www.cdc.gov/H1N1flu. Currently there are no international travel restrictions. However, since currently some airlines are restricting travelers who show signs of the flu from flying it is especially important to take measures outlined by the CDC and in the online student handbook to remain healthy in the period leading up to the program departure date. PHYSICAL ACTIVITYThere is no better way to absorb the culture and experience a new country than to WALK! CCSA programs can be physically demanding, especially for participants who are not used to walking. If you can walk at least 3 miles without stopping and climb 2-3 (long) flights of stairs without getting short of breath, you probably are fit enough to tolerate what you can expect to encounter on most study abroad programs. To get in shape, you should begin an exercise program at least six weeks before your study abroad program begins. If you have health problems or have not previously participated in an exercise program, you may need to consult your health care provider first for advice. Once abroad, you may find yourself walking five or more miles each day, so it is also a good idea to break in new walking shoes. If you wait until you arrive at your destination brand new shoes may equate to brand new blisters. PASSPORT/VISAParticipants not in possession of a current passport should apply for one immediately. Passport processing can take 4-6 weeks. Please review individual program details for further information, as a few of CCSA’s programs require specific visas. Please contact your local post office to obtain information regarding passport application and processing. The U.S. State Department recommends, hence CCSA requires, passports be valid for a minimum of six months beyond the date you return to the U.S. Additional information from the CCSA central office will be shared with those individuals who are participating in programs to countries where visitor visas are required of U.S. citizens. Non-U.S. citizens should contact their home-country embassy in the United States, as well as the embassy or consulate of the country to which they are traveling, to determine which documents are needed to enter CCSA destination countries. They should also contact the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service to find out which documents are needed to re-enter the United States and whether their leaving the United States is likely to have an adverse effect upon their U.S. resident status. CCSA offers round trip group air travel with our Summer and Winter Programs from the following cities, if available-
Participants on semester and internship programs are responsible for their own air transportation, as these programs are arranged on an individual basis. Please refer to “Section V. Transportation” in the Application for further details. ROOMMATE POLICYRequesting a Roommate-
CCSA will make every effort to accommodate rooming requests. However, please be aware that in keeping with the study abroad housing policies of our member schools, no requests for opposite sex roommates (with exception of married couples) can be honored. |
