Winter Weather Advisory for London

posted Dec 23, 2010 8:33 AM by Joe Woolley

To all CCSA participants on the London and London/Dublin 2010-11 Winter Programs:

Many of you may have seen news coverage of the winter weather going on in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the rest of Europe. Heathrow airport has been in the news a lot with a backlog of travelers left stranded from canceled flights. What is not being reported is that other than initial brief closures last weekend, there has been little disruption to incoming UK flights.  Flights have been arriving at Heathrow regularly.

Therefore nothing has changed with your travel day plans:   follow the instructions that you received from CCSA.

If weather conditions change in the US or UK, current airline policy is to request passengers to show up as normal to travel, even if their destination or transit airport is closed, as the airlines will be working to get travelers to a trans-Atlantic departure city so flights can be sent as soon as airports open. Consequently, you should all report to your respective airports at the time designated in your instructions.  We will notify you if conditions change dramatically.

If you have an issue getting to your departure airport on the day of travel, please contact Amie Sistad, CCSA's airline coordinator, at 615-460-6574 to inform her of your situation.

CCSA wishes you a Merry Christmas and looks forward to seeing you on this winter's programs! See you soon!!
